Alberto Avila has over 15 years of experience in Corporate Finance and previously led Deloitte’s Finance, Strategy & Organization practice in Ecuador which provided professional services in corporate finance and tax consulting to Ecuadorian and international clients. Mr. Avila has conducted more than 40 business valuations in support of mergers and acquisitions processes, alternatively representing the sell side and the buy side.
Mr. Avila has developed extensive experience in multiple industries including financial services, retail, and oil & gas. He is trained in IFRS and has often performed impairment analysis for Deloitte’s audit clients.
Mr. Avila has also worked in the treasury department of Banco Pichincha, the main private financial institution in Ecuador, with operations in Perú, Colombia, Panamá and Spain. While at Banco Pichincha, Mr. Avila did risk analysis for the bank’s $200 million investment portfolio, providing advice to senior management to reduce risks and increase profitability.
Mr. Avila has lectured at several prestigious universities in Ecuador, including the Universidad San Francisco de Quito, Universidad de las Américas and Universidad Andina Simón Bolivar, where he taught International Finance, Business Valuation and Business Strategy.
Mr. Avila holds a master’s degree in business administration from the Instituto de Empresa (Madrid). His undergraduate degree is from Palm Beach Atlantic University, with a concentration in finance and banking. Mr. Avila also earned a diploma in strategic finance from Tecnológico de Monterrey in Mexico.
